Hi Everyone,

This was from yesterday:

Oden FongSeth's new liver is working fine and his body is adjusting to the liver. He needs one more line because all his other lines are busy putting meds into his body. They will do this today. The goal is to bring down his swelling so that they can close the incision and take out his breathing tube. He mostly sleeps, but every now and then, wakes and looks at me with his beautiful eyes, then drifts back into dreamland.

I text with Sam today, who is back with Seth and things are still good. I am so excited that we are now witnessing the amazing transformation of an infant into has been given a gift of a chance at a healthy and fulfilling life.

DID GOD USE EVOLUTION?

Theistic Evolution
The belief that God created Bacteria, and then manipulated them into trees, whales, lions and people over billions of years.
The Gap Theory
The belief there is a big gap between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. They believe God did an original creation billions of years ago, then when Satan fell, God wiped out that creation with a flood and plopped the Garden of Eden on an old earth. They do not believe in bacteria to blue whale evolution.
Progressive Creation (Day Age)
The belief that over billions of years God created plants and animals then they went extinct�God kept creating things over long periods of time until he instantly made male and females with souls. They do not believe in bacteria to blue whale evolution.
Why do people believe this?
They often have a genuine love of God and claim to trust the Bible, but they have been told their entire lives that the earth is billions of years old and that people are descendants of bacteria.
Biblical Problems With All Three Beliefs
1) Many Christians try to defend the beliefs mentioned above as Biblical, but the Hebrews (who were the best Hebrew scholars of all time) never taught these ideas. If the Bible taught these, they would know.

2) They contradict the fourth commandment in Exodus 20:9-11:
�Six days you shall labor and do all your work�, For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day.� Everything was created in six human days.
3) They believe death and suffering occurred before the fall of man - contradicting a foundational Biblical teaching. Genesis 1:31 states: And God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good.� If all this death and mayhem happened (including Satan�s fall) this is not very good. Romans 5: 12 and 1 Corinthians 15:21 teach death entered the world by sin, and paradise was lost (Romans 5:12: �Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned� 1 Corinthians 15: �For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead.� The creation was cursed due to sin.
Quick Science Problems With All Three Beliefs
Genetics, Biochemistry, Taxonomy, Zoology and observation of billions of births daily teach birds make birds, cows make cows, bacteria makes bacteria and people make people. Not one living organism supports bacteria to blue whale evolution. Fossils and living animals teach extinction, not the appearance of new animal kinds.
Solar radiation, wind, erosion and mutations in living things teach that the earth would look like Mars if it were billions of years old. Before our very eyes we see the earth desiccating (drying up) and dying.

I was walking to church with my family, and had a question for my four year old daughter:
Dad: �Why do churches have such big roofs?�
Daughter: �So that the people won�t get wet daddy!�

Guest speaker Bill Weston has studied the La Brea tar pits for many years. He has authored a book and we are very fortunate to have him speaking on the La Brea Tar Pits! Please attend and bring a friend.
Child care will be provided. Special lessons are available for kids between first and fifth grade. After the lesson, we have pizza at 6 PM.
Meeting location: West Grove Calvary Chapel in Garden Grove. 12832 Knott St. Garden Grove, CA 92841. The church is on Knott just north of the 22 Freeway.
Tuesday October 6, 2009 at 7 PM we will have a repeat lesson.
